Redcar Half Marathon, 1st October 2017

Although not the most scenic of routes, Redcar is a flat course and offers runners the chance of a quick time.  Despite earlier forecasts of poor weather, conditions were almost perfect with a light breeze and just a touch of drizzle early in the race.

Victor Brudenell led the Harriers home in an impressive 1.24.08.  Andy Scaife and Bill Hornby were the next two across the line both recording PBs in 1.36.12 and 1.37.19.

I was more than pleased with 1.45.58, less than a minute outside my PB. Richie Hambly was the next finisher in 1.49.27, a good time considering the lack of miles coach Hambly has ran in recent months.

Graeme Surtees finished in 1.54.15 with Simon Lawlor not far behind in 1.55.01.  Simon picked up an injury just after half way and did well to finish. Nigel Shaw was close behind in 1.55.26. Nigel has been suffering with injuries for a long time. Hopefully he can shake them off in the coming months.

Neal Gillson completed in 2.02.01 and Cary Surtees was the first lady home in 2.02.58.  I am sure Cary has another sub 2 hour time in her locker for the near future.

Claire Earle in 2.09.58, Michael Skirving in 2.12.44 and Pauline Ransom in 2.18.56 completed the Burn Road finishers.

Already looking forward to 2018
